Bodega Catena Zapata Cabernet Sauvignon 2007
Note: I publish batches of reviews that I call Good Values Wine Picks. These are from the regular section of the liquor store rather than the Vintages section, and tend to be lower priced and the most widely available of all wines. The last four reviews I did were: March 7, January 4, December 16 and November 20.
Tasting note:
Big black fruit up front, followed by a rich and supple mid-palate flavors. Spreads peacock-style across your palate to be richly mouth-filling. More linear and structured than Malbec with great length. This wine was aged for 16 months in French oak. Elegant and satisfying. Available in the January 2010 Vintages release, though you may find it elsewhere before then. Food matches: lamb, pepper steak.
