Tasting note:
VC: Château Haut-Monplaisir is in the commune of Lacapelle-Cabanac, west of Cahors.
Wines from Cahors are known as ‘black wines’ as they are among the darkest coloured reds made. The vineyards here were first planted by the Romans, and popes, tsars and emperors became fans over time. This inky Malbec displays aromas of cherry, herbs, fig, and peat. In the vanguard of quality for southwestern wines. My note: A truly black colored wine..a good companion for a dastardly plot. Tannic with aromas of black fruit, smoke and oak.
