Note: I publish batches of reviews that I call Good Values Wine Picks. These are from the regular section of the liquor store rather than the Vintages section, and tend to be lower priced and the most widely available of all wines. The last four reviews I did were: January 3, July 6, May 8 and April 22.
Tasting note:
Graham's 2003 Late Bottled Vintage, like Vintage Port, is a wine of a single year but it is not a "declared" Vintage Port. Whereas Port spends only two years in casks and the matures in bottle, LBV is aged in casks and then bottled with a light filtration at between four and six years old. At the time of bottling it has completed its maturation and is ready for drinking without the need for decanting. Aromas of dried figs, purple plums and jammy blackberries. Smooth, full-bodied and warm. Superb value. Food matches: dried fruit, fruit flans, cobblers and crumbles, coffee cake.
