The Vintages Catalogue says 2011 but we tasted the 2013 vintage. Vibrant, juicy, fleshy ripe purple plums and blueberry jam on the nose and palate of this full-bodied, smooth Californian red wine. The grapes grow on old vines that are weathered and head pruned in the Lodi region. Finishes with boysenberry flavours.

Zinfandel food pairings: grilled duck breast, spaghetti Bolognaise, aged cheddar, grilled lamb loin.

Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Lodi, California is the Mecca of California Zinfandel. It is in this region that some of the best Zinfandel is grown. This is a handsome Zinfandel with it's deep ruby purple suit and weighty aromas and flavours of strawberry-rhubarb pie, blueberry, black cherry, sweet spices, dried herbs, black pepper, and smoke. The acidity is balanced and cleansing. This wine is smooth juicy goodness. Long length on a fruit driven finish. Serve with spag Bol, pizza Margherita, Canadian BBQ. Lots of fruit and acidity to suggest some cellar potential.
Tasted: May 2015
The 2013 vintage was a solid one for Lodi. The Zynthesis Old Vine Zinfandel benefits from the old vines which lend concentration and depth of flavour and character. - Community Wine Reviews
