A generous, full-bodied, supple red with attractive aromas of black plum, blackberries and black raspberries. Incredible concentration and depth. Great for dinner parties. Shiraz from the Barossa Valley shines, and here is a prime example. Seductive notes of cedar smoke on the finish. With 160 years of Barossa heritage, Yalumba shows exactly what Barossa terroir is capable of. The winery creates this wine from a "patchwork quilt" of soils, aspects, microclimates and cultures, thus the name.

Shiraz food pairings: steak, lamb, pork, cheese, chicken.

Reviews and Ratings

Irina Omari rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

This is a very good shiraz, and when you buy a shiraz from Barossa valley, you do expect it to be good. This one truly delivers. The grapes are selected from different vineyards specifically to include the grapes from cooler and warmer areas, so the wine is complex. You get a great dark plums with nice berry flavours, some smokiness and the long finish.
Yalumba is synonymous with Australia wine, particularly Shiraz. The winery has selected specific parts of its cool-climate vineyard in the Eden Valley for this "patchwork" blend of Shiraz. It marries these with some warm plots in the Barossa Valley to create a remarkable wine in the tough 2011 vintage. - Community Wine Reviews
