Enticing aromas of blackberry liqueur on the nose and palate of this dry, full-bodied Australia Shiraz from the cool climate of McLaren Vale. Savoury and meaty, yet also juicy. This wine packs a flavour punch. Pair with roast beef.

Shiraz food pairings: grilled meats, cheesy pizza.

Reviews and Ratings

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

An Australian Shiraz from McLaren Vale, made unique by the addition of a parcel of Barbera vines. Ripe blackberry and herbal notes with a hint of menthol on a fragrant nose, followed by ripe dark berries, spices, floral and herbal touches on the palate. Dry and full-bodied with lip-smacking acidity - a winning combination!
Andrew Bernardo rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

This wine made my Venison Tenderloin very happy, with its complex yet fresh aromas and flavours of blackberry, cassis, menthol, plum skin, Kenya AA coffee, milk chocolate, plum skin, warm spice and white pepper. 91 Points. (www.ottawawinejournal.com)
Craig Kuziemsky rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Aromas and flavor of black cherry and cassis with some oaky spice on the palate. Finishes nicely with soft tannins. Pair well with cheeses or beef stew.
Sean O'Regan - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Deep ruby, dark fruits and spice on the nose with some vanilla and pepper. Medium full bodied, black cherry, plum, blackberry, black pepper, cedar, oak spice show on the palate, Nice balance with juicy acidity and still some grippy tannins indicate this could be cellared for a few years or decant for 30-60 mins Drink over the next 5+ years.

Douglas McMillan rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Blueberry, mint, cassis, smoke, and baking spices. The taste is dark berries, mainly blackberry and black cherry, with some of the smokiness coming through as well. There's a touch of rounded tannins. A great wine for a roast beef or pork.
David Skinner rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Deep Ruby and tight purple rim. Fruit forward and complex nose. Lots of blackberry, caramel and smoke to enjoy before diving into the bowl. Fruit dominates the initial tastes with nice undertones of dark chocolate. Subtle tannins and full body create a mouth-feel that is silky with an edge that is quite pleasant. The finish is long and keeps the balance going.

Drink this with spicy sausage ragout on pappardelle or BBQ brisket (especially the burnt ends).
Nick Onischuk - Accredited Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Deep ruby red with typicity. This is a great value Australian Shiraz from classic cooler climate McLaren Vale. Blackberry, black pepper, eucalyptus on the nose and palate. Pair with coffee-rubbed pork tenderloin, smoked meat brisket, bacon - Black Forest ham thin crust pizza. Tasted August 2016 @jonsteeves rated 90/100.
Monique Sosa - Accredited Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

What a wicked-yummy smelling Shiraz! Nice work Wits End! The nose shows intense ripe black fruit, dried figs, anise and sweet smoke. Mmmmmmm, the palate agrees with me. Dominant flavours include black plum, cassis, mocha, vanilla bean. anise and hints of soy sauce. Enjoy this full-bodied Shiraz with dry rubbed ribs or hickory bbq. Tasted August 2016. @sommsosa | bespoketastings.ca
Pamela Chiles rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Quite an elegant wine in an elegant bottle - at a very good price. On the nose, blackberry, rose, eucalyptus and licorice. All follow on the palate with nicely integrated acidity, alcohol and tannins. The small amount of Barbera added lifts the Shiraz from what could potentially be a gooey confit. Nicely done.
