Natalie's Score: 92/100

Full-bodied, rich and complex with fleshy ripe cassis and wild blackberry aromas on the nose and palate of this robust Australian red wine blend Grenache, Shiraz and Mataro (aka Mourvèdre) also known as a GSM blend. A black plum, smoky finish. Nicely done! Pair with grilled meats.

Grenache Shiraz Mataro food pairings: baked ham, veal chops, herbed pork tenderloin.

Reviews and Ratings

Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Bring on the BBQ ribs slathered in some crazy sauce to equal this juicy, full-bodied red wine blend of Shiraz, Grenache and Mataro(Mourvedre) aka GSM in Australia. This wine is youthful for sure with fresh strawberry, cherry and cranberry but there's a little maturity with hints of raisin and prune. Warm spices combining with warm alcohol make for a lingering warm, fruit driven finish. Good acid to fruit ratio. Tannins are softening and can only think this wine will be even better in a couple more years. Great complexity and quality at this $25 price. Buy 2.

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

A delicious GSM blend from Barossa Valley, S Australia. Shows bright berry aromas of ripe raspberries, blueberries, strawberry jam and vanilla, repeated on the palate. Dry, full-bodied, with a strawberry jam finish. Enjoy with spicy barbequed ribs.

Can you imagine your life's work being ripped out of the ground because nobody wanted it, or turning it into something so distant from what was first imagined - like white wine from red wine grapes? Such was the case in the mid-1980s when this happened to South Australia's old vines Grenache, Mataro and Shiraz. Two Hands Wine, Brave Faces (2014) is a tribute to those who tended the vines and had the foresight and fortitude to let the grape vines remain intact for this full-bodied smooth dark fruit, berries and spice wine. - Community Wine Reviews
