Reviews and Ratings

Courtney Flood rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Great pick! Has the essence of the old world with dark cherry, cranberry, leather, cigar, and green herb but still juicy enough that is isn't overwhelming.
The Cantele Salice Salento [sic] comes from the Salentine peninsula in southeastern Italy, known as the “heel of the boot.” The wine is a blend of 85 percent negroamaro, a grape that produces dark, dense, earthy wines, and 15 percent malvasia nera, which adds aromatics. The resulting deep red wine is medium- to full-bodied, with a complex, enticing aroma. The delicious flavor includes layers of dark cherry, spice and earth, with notes of vanilla from oak aging. This is a smooth, clean wine with an alcohol level of 13 percent. It is well-balanced with lots of character and ends with a nice, long finish. Source: Gail Appleson, St. Louis Today
