A strong acidic attack and backbone. Well made and balanced Niagara Chardonnay. The 2013 vintage of this Niagara Chardonnay is made from grapes grown in vineyards on the Beamsville Bench. The wine underwent a wild yeast fermentation and was then matured for 1 year in French oak barrels.

Chardonnay food pairings: butternut ravioli served with Alfredo sauce, roast duck, crab cakes.

Reviews and Ratings

Monique Sosa - Accredited Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

A nice Ontario Chardonnay with an abundance of tropical fruit notes - mango, pineapple, and citrus - floral notes and mild spice notes. This wine boasts a crisp palate, a buttery mouthfeel and a bone dry finish. Enjoy with lemon-garlic and herb roasted chicken. Tasted Oct 2016. @sommsosa | bespoketastings.ca
Lynn van der Linde - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Redstone winery is aptly named after its red clay soils and large stone terroir. This Niagara winery focuses on back to basics, hand managing of the entire growing, harvesting and vinification process, including proudly maintaining a biodynamic and organic certification.
The grapes for this Chardonnay were hand picked at harvest, and gently crushed allowed the true nature of everything this cool climate grape has to offer. Tropical bouquet with a hint of sweet spices, a crisp citrus hit mid-palate, with a velvety finish.
Tasted at Taste Ontario in Ottawa, March 29, 2017.
Pamela Chiles rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Barrel fermented with wild yeast and aged in 20-30% new oak (light toast), giving a very subtle oak character. Nice and fresh, apple-citrus with stone and tropical fruit notes, crisp acidity and dry finish. Great with seared scallops and the like.
Redstone (2013) is made from Chardonnay wine grapes from vineyards on the Beamsville Bench. The wine was fermented with natural yeast and saw about one year of oak ageing. Well balanced and nicely crafted. - Community Wine Reviews
