A pleasant red wine with a medium-bodied weight, aromas of tart cherries and mouth-watering goodness. Perfect for dishes with tangy acidity such as pasta in tomato sauce and other Italian dishes.

Chianti Classico food pairings: beef, cheese, chicken, game, pasta.

Reviews and Ratings

Emilie Ryan rated this wine as 80/100 with the following review:

Surprising…
Appearance: Light ruby red, surprisingly no trace of orange.
Nose: Leather, cherries, earth, mint.
Taste: Very tannic for an eight-year-old wine, even after a one-hour decant, earth, leather, slate, a little sour cherries. Usually, Chianti Classico Riservas should pair well with Italian meals. Surprisingly, it did not pair very well with gnocchi in rosé and Italian sausage sauce. Strong black pepper notes emerged. The bottle says it would pair well with roasted or grilled meats. I’ll take the producer's word for it. Just make sure there is no tomato or pasta associated with the meat… It was worse with dark chocolate. Again, surprising.
Finish: earth, slate, thin
Overall impression: I’ve had much better Chiantis and Chianti Classicos. This is the first Chianti Classico Riserva that I did not really enjoy.
Rating: 80/100
Value: 2 out of 5
Nice oak frame on this potent Italian red wine. Pair with succulently rich grilled meats. This wine won a Silver Medal at the 2010 International Wine & Spirit Competition. Very Tuscan in style. - Community Wine Reviews
