Rich, black cherry liqueur aromas and flavours made this full-bodied red wine so seductive. Ultra-plush and voluptuous. Smooth and satisfying sensual pleasure. There's a terrific spice-infused finish wrapped in cedar smoke. Try this with pork tenderloin.

Carmenere food pairings: hamburger, ribs in a rich sauce, spicy dishes, tomato-based dishes, beef tenderloin.

Reviews and Ratings

Shari Reed rated this wine as 100/100 with the following review:

Phenomenal wine. Very good w food or alone. Bold
Bill Wright Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

This opens with tar on the nose then moves more to the more characteristic dark berries of Carminere. This full bodied wine has good structure and balance making this a smooth wine with dark berry and subtle chocolate flavours. Medium finish of fruit and spice with a pleasant alcohol warming.
A good value wine that went well with dark chocolate.

Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Intense aromas leap from the glass of this deep ruby coloured Carmenere. Gobs of black fruit, candied cherry, eucalyptus, dried herbs and cedar. Palate is a repeat of aromas with the addition of a lift of juicy fresh cut green pepper - in a good way! Full-bodied and dry with medium(+) acidity and drying tannins. This wine is youthful and could stand some time in the cellar. Long length on a warming alcohol finish.
Tasted: January 2016
The Carmenere grapes for this full-bodied Chilean red wine are grown in the winery's Apalta Vineyard. Carmenere is the long lost French varietal (grape) that disappeared in France in the 19th century and was re-discovered in the last decade, growing almost wild in Chile. The wine has an elegant ruby robe in the glass. Finishes with mocha and dark berries. Silky tannins, with slightly herbaceous mid-palate. Amazingly great price for this lip-smacking delicious red wine that uses Chile's signature grape Carmenere. Loaded with fleshy dark fruit. - Community Wine Reviews
