This Nicolas Potel wine is medium-bodied, and smooth: Classic Old World pinot noir that offers aromas and flavours of tart cherries, earth and some herbal notes. Good acidity for food. Awesome price for Burgundy, especially for the quality designation of AC. Finishes with lovely spice and coffee notes. Pair with smoke salmon.

Pinot Noir food pairings: veal scaloppini with a mushroom sauce, beef bourguignon, pork tenderloin, mushroom and truffle dishes, coq au vin.

Reviews and Ratings

Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

This pale ruby medium-bodied red is a lesson in classic Old World style Burgundian Pinot Noir. Cherry pie, earthy, violets, pepper, herbs de Provence, toast, leather. The palate brings sour cherry, cranberry, smooth tannins and medium+ acidity. Classic Burgundy pairing would be cheeses and baguette, game meat and stews. Stuffed mushroom caps or mushroom risotto could work. Enjoy over the next 3 years.
Tasted: January 2015
There are 4,620 hectares planted for this Pinot Noir and the vines are 35 to 70 years old. They're planted at a density of 10,000 per hectare with a southwest exposure in clay and limestone soils at 234 metres above sea level. The grapes were harvested September 20, 2012, and picked by hand with fermentation via native yeast and 100% malolactic fermentation, no fining and bottled February 2014. - Community Wine Reviews
