Natalie's Score: 90/100

This is the magnum size of this wine, equivalent to two regular (750 ml) bottles. The regular sized format is also in this release. Complex, full-bodied yet subtle Italian red wine. Gorgeous aromas of dried black cherry, cedar, smoke, fleshy blackberries from an iconic producer. This full-bodied red wine is the second wine to Frescobaldi’s flagship label Luce. It's a blend of Merlot, Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, and it was aged for 1 year in French barriques. Decant for 1 hour and you're ready to go! The grapes are sourced from the same vineyards as Luce. Pair this wine with prime rib.

Food pairings: pepper steak.

Reviews and Ratings

Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Full-bodied red blend of Merliot, Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon lending to the deep ruby colour. Ripe dark fruit mixes with earthy notes of cedar, smoke, tobacco, leather, eucalyptus. Sweet spices on the long warming finish. Drying tannins need decanting at least one hour. Balanced acidity. Protein, salt, fat should pair with this wine. Try herb encrusted rib roast.
Tasted: November 8, 2014
Lucente is Luce's second wine, the flanker brand if you will. The grapes are sourced from the same vineyards as Luce and aged in oak barriques in the winery at Montalcino.
