A pleasant, smooth, full-bodied Syrah with lots of toasty oak, smoke and vanilla-hickory notes from generous oak aging. Black fruit aromas and flavours on this Californian red wine. Pair with hearty meat dishes. The Vintages Catalogue notes a different vintage, but we tasted the 2011.

Reviews and Ratings

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Dark garnet red with a nose of rich blackberry and strawberry. The palate shows ripe strawberry jam and vanilla. Smooth tannins and a strawberry jam finish.
Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

This full-bodied California Syrah is deep ruby with loads of dark cherry, smoke, cassis and cloves with a wet wool component. The palate lends horse saddle, black pepper, strawberry tart, toast and lit cigar. Youthfull grainy tannins with medium+ acidity. Not an overly long length on a vanilla fruit finish. Decent value for $20. Decant. Drink now or enjoy over the next 2-3 years. Pair with roasted lamb shank, grilled red meats.
Tasted: February 2015
This Californian Syrah from the central coast is a pleasant sipper to pair with hamburgers. The grapes are grown in Paso Robles and are traditional Rhone Valley varieties. Lots of mocha, brown sugar and dark chocolate on the finish from well-toasted oak aging. - Community Wine Reviews
