Mocha and dark chocolate aromas from generous oak aging. The famous winemaker consultant Michel Rolland works with this winery, and his signature is here in the robust, luscious fruit profile of this wine. The vineyards for this wine are located in the foothills of the Andes at an altitude of 1200 metres above sea level, which is on the front label, and the wine is matured in French oak for 8 months. The results is a intensely concentrated wine offering aromas of black plums, cherries and blackberries along with some smoke and fresh vibrant blackberries and toasty oak on the finish. What a delightful wine for meat lovers!

Malbec food pairings: radicchio and cold beet salad, lamb cutlets, beef tenderloin.

From Argentina's Mendoza Valley. Fragrant damson plum & mocha nose. Flavourful plum & mocha palate in velvety, balanced mouthfeel with mouth-watering acidity and lingering finish. Pair with grilled beef or lamb kebabs.
Tasted June 2017
Finca Sophenia Reserve (2014) is an Argentinean Malbec from the lower part of Gualtallary in the Uco Valley. Michel Rolland works with this winery in creating this robust and luscious red wine. Vineyards are located in the foothills of the Andes and the wine is matured in French oak for 8 months. Lots of black plum, dark cherries and blackberries on this Malbec. Gualtallary is a tiny, increasingly popular winegrowing area in the Uco Valley with limestone and chalk soils. Wines from her are concentrated with a streak of minerality. - Community Wine Reviews
