Reviews and Ratings

Andrew Bernardo rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Bam. This wine shows why Mencia is one of the most exciting and undervalued varietals in the wine world today. I've always been of the mind that Mencia, like Grenache, should not face the daunting challenge of sleeping too long in new oak. Palacios shares the same vision. Sleek, sexy aromas and flavours of black currants, licorice, sassafras, and a hint of marshmallow root. Exquisite minerality, smooth tannins. Incredible harmony present in this wine. I'm 92 points on this. (ottawawinejournal.com)
(All mencia, as is the case for all of these wines, which are aged briefly in new French oak and then in older barrels before bottling) Dark ruby. Ripe red and blackcurrant aromas are complicated by anise, cola and sexy oak spices. Soft dark berry preserve flavors gain minerality and firmness with air. Zesty cherry skin and mineral notes carry through a long, gently tannic finish. Score: 91 Source: Josh Raynolds, International Wine Cellar

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
