Rustic and robust with firm tannins that will smooth over time or decant 2 hours. The Cahors winemaking region in southern France produces very robust red wines, like this one. The prices are often excellent for the quality, as is the case for this bottle. This AC wine offers black fruit aromas and flavours wrapped up in lots of toasty, smoky oak. Some dark spices on the finish. Try it tonight with meat lovers' pizza. Yum!

Cahors is known as the historic home of Malbec. They're known as 'black wines' because of their intense structure and colour. This particular one is a mixture of Malbec and some Merlot to soften it and make it more approachable.
Deep, dark colour. Plummy bluish-red. Glasscoating.
Aromas of macerated cherry, chocolate, prune, plum, and coffee grounds.
The wine is firm, but juicy. Blueberry, black grape, plum, medicinal lozenge, black liquorice, chocolate, and coffee.
This would be great with molasses ribs and bbq, in general. It has so much character, it's great just as a sipper, on its own.

Tasted Oct 5, 2017. Colour medium purple, medium legs. Aromas and flavours of, blueberry, sugar plum, blackberry, chocolate and clay pot. Taste, dry, medium mouthfeel, very fruity, nice integrated tannin, medium minus acid, with a finish of red plum, and cocoa stick. Very nice table wine. Easy to drink. Was opened for at least 2 hrs. So quite soft. Pair it with a charcuterie plate or braised rabbit, or stewed squab.
Old country wine match with old country food.

From Château Vincens Prestige (2014) 272427 this Cahors from the Southwest of France is robust, rich and smoky. Malbec and Merlot red wine grapes make up the blend matched by great acidity and grippy tannins. Decant for one hour prior to serving with grilled, smoky pork ribs. - Community Wine Reviews
