Natalie's Score: 93/100

Great concentration and depth of flavour on the palate. This blockbuster is in serious need of cellar time. This full-bodied red wine features aromas of blackberry, black plums, smoky oak and tar. It's fairly smooth, though this will improve with aging. Decant for 1-2 hours when you open it. A powerful and classic Italian red wine. Pair with prime rib.

Brunello Di Montalcino food pairings: pasta in meat sauce, spicy sausages, grilled meats, game.

Reviews and Ratings

Jacky Blisson rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

From the outstanding 2010 vintage, this Brunello from the highly reputed Marchesi de Frescobaldi displays real finesse. Deep ruby in colour, with enticing aromas of red cherry, blackberry, tangerine peel, violets and earl grey tea. This racy offering is full bodied, with a tightly knit structure and beautifully layered texture. The tannins are firm and grippy, and the alcohol is a high 15%, making for a powerful, if ever so slightly off balance whole. The finish is long, with intriguing leather notes.

Would benefit from 3 - 4 years of additional cellaring to mellow tannins and allow more tertiary notes to develop. Will likely continue to age gracefully for a further 5 years.
The Frescobaldi name is one of the best known in the Tuscany region, and this wine delivers on the promise. Great structure, balance and length. It's produced from severe selection, low yield Sangiovese grapes grown on the winery's estate vineyard in the heart of Tuscany. The wine is aged for three years in large oak casks and then another 6 months in bottle before being released from the winery. The Frescobaldi family have been winegrowers since 1300. - Community Wine Reviews
