Mature and subtle. Like it a lot better than the 2013 that was released a few weeks ago. Contemplative wine. Dusty, savoury, classic Italian red wine with aromas of lovely tart black cherries, cedar smoke, violets. Nicely integrated nuances of oak and vanillin. This robust red has a good grip on the palate so decant for 1-2 hours then enjoy with prime rib.

Vino Nobile Di Montepulciano food pairings: beef.

Reviews and Ratings

Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

This wine is bright ruby red, 13.5% ABV with typicity. This wine shows ruby red with garnet rim. Deeply concentrated red fruit, anise, red cherry and eucalyptus. Full-bodied, juicy, well-balanced, integrated and great complexity. Pairs well with game, braised red meats, BBQ Angus AAA steak. Rated 92/100 @jonsteeves @VanWineFest 2016
Monique Sosa - Accredited Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Incredible value for quality! This wine pours with an intense (cooked berry) fruit forward bouquet. The nose is packed with ripe red berries, floral, baking spice (all spice & nutmeg), vanilla, cocoa. Palate is rich and full bodied with high acid, young integrated tannins and a long complex cherry, mint and savoury note in the finish. It's delicious! If enjoying now do decant 1-2 hours prior to serve but can benefit from more cellar time (up to 2027). Tasted May 2016. @sommsosa @bespoketastings
