Natalie's Score: 89/100

Black cherry liqueur richness and depth of flavour, though this is a dry wine. Full-bodied with terrific and satisfying layers of flavour. Great value in this bottle. “Appassimento” means "drying" and refers to the fact that the grapes are dried before pressing, which adds richness, depth and flavour to the wine. Some pepper, smoke and black cherry on the finish.

Valpolicella food pairings: grilled meats, light stews, ravioli, grilled vegetables, hamburgers, lamb ragout with fresh Parmigiano-Reggiano.

Reviews and Ratings

Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Love the Amarone style in this wine. Lots of dried dark fruit with a hint of sweetness in the aroma and finish. Ruby red and medium+ body. Hard cheeses, game meats or classic BBQ burgers. Can't go wrong. Will be buying a couple more bottles for storage.
Aromas of dried cherry, plum, fig and sweet baking spices, as well as an intriguing (in a very good way) note that our panel placed at being between the aroma of fresh banana bread and mincemeat. Which side of the discussion do you favour? The palate is plush and loaded with dark fruit and spice. Shapely, ripe tannins and a touch of sour cherry on the finish.
