A toasty South African sparkling wine at an exceptional price. The Twee Jonge Gezellen is a robust blend of 90% Chardonnay, 9% Pinot Noir and 1% Pinot Blanc grapes. Aromas of freshly baked bread, golden apple and toasted almond. The vines are planted in chalky limestone soils. Legend says that the god of wine Bacchus fell in love with Ariadne, the daughter of the King of Crete. To prove his love, he threw her a golden crown and a circlet of gems into the sky that became a shrine to her in the form of the constellation of stars called the Corona Borealis, which means crown as does the name of this wine Krone. This uses the Methode Cap Classique. Pair with roast chicken.

Sparkling food pairings: smoked salmon and tuna, sushi, sashimi, roast chicken.

From the Twee Jonge Gezellen, in the Tulbagh wine region of South Africa, Krone Borealis Vintage Cuvée Brut 2016 is 90% Chardonnay, 9% Pinot Noir, 1% Pinot Blanc sparkling white made in the Cape Classique method. Twee Jonge Gezellen is among the oldest farms in the Western Cape and was one of 14 farms granted to colonists after 1700 when the then governor of the Cape, Willem van der Stel. The area became Tulbagh, and the town was established in 1743. - Community Wine Reviews
