Natalie's Score: 92/100

This robust Spanish red wine exceeds the Gran Reserva maturity guidelines, but is still labelled as only a Reserva. This points to a great bargain on this wine, and the high standards of the winery. Aromas of leather, smoke and memories of a dusty walk in Spain. The fruit is a flesh memory only, but the bones remember to their marrow. Smooth and smoky, for conversations that are comfortable with long silences

Food pairings: pork tenderloin, spaghetti with meatballs and sausage, roast lamb, game meats, slow-roasted beef.

Reviews and Ratings

This Rioja is a red wine blend of 95% Tempranillo, 3% Graciano, 2% Garnacha grapes. Vineyards are estate owned and located in the San Vicente zone of Rioja Alta. Vines average 30 years of age and the vineyard itself is has very steep slopes with calcareous clay soils and large rocks. The production of the 2009 vintage was limited to 2,000 cases and Senorio De Peciña Reserva is made only in the best vintages. - Community Wine Reviews

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
