New World power fruit, Old World styling, elegance and trimming along the edges. Black and purple plum aromas lead out of the gate, galloping up behind and quickly overtaking them is toasty oak, pencil led and smoke. Whoosh. That's the sound of your senses wondering what hit them. Great price. Finishes with black cherry and dark spices. A bright, vibrant, full-bodied Italian red wine with juicy acidity that's great with pasta and tomato sauce.

Reviews and Ratings

Jacky Blisson rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Lovely, fragrant nose of cherry, marzipan, violets and earthy undertones. Really fresh on the palate; medium bodied, with good fruit concentration and soft, rounded tannins. Sour cherry flavours linger on the moderate length finish. This is a steal for the price, and would make a very versatile choice for a wide variety of food pairings.
Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

The 2012 vintage is juicy and mouthwatering, well-balanced and well integrated. Ruby red and 14.5?v this is a great value wine delivering quality and inexpensively priced. The aromatics offer dark cherry, field strawberry, savoury smoked meat. On the palate, this wine offers elegance, sophistication, medium plus body, with food friendly medium plus acidity, medium plus tannins and medium fruit. This wine pits exceptionally well with Italian antipasti of eggplant, olives, pickled onions, pickled cornichon, toasted garlic crustini, and salted pretzel. Enjoy 2016-2020.
Monique Sosa - Accredited Sommelier rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

A lovely easy drinking Italian red with a gorgeous deep purple apperance and thick glass coating legs. Aromas are clean and prounced with ripe blackberry, juicy dark cherry, sweet smoke, baking spice and graphite minerality notes. The palate shows equally pronounced and concentrated black fruit, leather and fresh mint notes. Acidity is moderate with integrated (medium +) tannins and a satiny mouthfeel. This Barbera is medium bodied and a table wine favourite of the Piedmonte region. It is perhaps one of the most food friendly Italians reds. I enjoy pairing this style of wine with pizza, antipasti, salumi, meatballs, etc.
The big Italian red wine was matured for 12 months before its release from the winery: partly in stainless steel tanks and partly in French oak barrels. Finishes with dark fruit, toasty oak and spices. - Community Wine Reviews
