Natalie's Score: 89/100

A full-bodied red wine with pleasing aromas and flavours of fleshy black plums wrapped in a warm mocha embrace from oak aging. Yet this VQA wine is not heavy, and wonderfully balanced for medium to robust meat dishes.

Gamay Pinot Noir food pairings: grilled radicchio hearts with melted fresh mozzarella and olive oil and balsamic drizzle with freshly cracked pepper, New York style pepperoni pizza, saffron risotto with herb roasted tomatoes, mushroom risotto or roasted vegetables with olive oil.

Reviews and Ratings

Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Follow the Detour signs - a 13th Street Red Detour that is! 60 Gamay and 40 Pinot Noir make up this medium-bodied flavourful wine. Medium+ acidity, medium+ alcohol, medium youthful tannins. Cherry compote, raspberry, ripe plum, violets, vanilla, pepper, toasted oak, nuttiness, and waft of barnyard. The length is long and supple. Aromas linger in the glass.
Drinking beautifully now through the next 5 years.
Pair with vegetarian pizza, game stews, roasted lamb, a warm fire.
Tasted: October 2014
Aimee Fowler - WSET L2 rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

A gorgeous colour, wonderful nose, and full palate make this wine very pleasurable!

Notes of strawberry sauce, red current, some citrus of blood orange. A distinct herbaceousness of rosemary and sage, and roasted red pepper.
The palate follows through, showing off more fruit with notes of strawberry sauce, cherry, and red current. Has medium body, rounds out in your mouth with good acidity. The oak shows through with a toasted walnut quality and some vanilla.

This is a delicious representation of Canadian wine!
Juicy red berry fruit and spice of Gamay Noir combined with the elegance and velvety smoothness of Pinot Noir.
