Such a lovely wine ... one for sighing over rather than describing. Medium-bodied, velvet smooth with racy black cherries that roll and caress over your tongue. Perfect for planked salmon or seafood, as well as lamb.

Pinot Noir food pairings: sautéed pioppino mushrooms, mustard & pistachio crusted roast lamb.

More Wine Reviews and Ratings

Tania Thomas CSW, WSET ADV rated this wine as 96/100 with the following review:

Stewart Family's pinot passion is undeniable. The winery grows eight clones of pinot noir in its estate vineyards and is Canada’s largest producer of premium Pinot Noir. Rich and complex, it reminds of a classic red Burgundy. Elegant and fruit forward with intense ripe red fruit on the palate and a touch of spice & truffle, it is my absolute favourite. Pair it with a wild mushroom risotto for a extra special treat.
Lesley Quinn Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Delicate yet rich, earthy yet still fruity. This Pinot Noir has it all. More of an old world style Pinot with a green vegetable, and truffle character. The ripe cherry flavour carries through to the finish, and the wine becomes slightly spicy at the very end. A great food wine, ideal for a pork chop in a mushroom sauce.
The Stewart Family Reserve Pinot Noir was made from100% Pinot Noir clones sourced entirely from 10-26 year old vines grown in the Quails’ Gate Estate vineyards on the Mount Boucherie bench.
Harvested by hand in early October, the fruit was chilled and soaked on the skins for several days before undergoing spontaneous fermentation. After nearly a month on the skins, the wine was gently pressed before barrel ageing for 10 months. Only the very best French oak barrels are chosen for the Stewart Family Reserve Pinot Noir. This is a very cellar worthy wine with ageing potential of 5 to 8 years.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
