Feudo Disisa Nero D'avola 2008, I.G.T., Sicily, Italy: Vintages Wine Panel: Despite being Sicily’s most widely planted grape, Nero D’Avola may have originated in Calabria on the mainland, which may explain why the grape is also known as Calabrese. Regardless, in Sicily it produces delicious wines. Disisa’s 2008 version presents a smoky nose, with ripe black cherry, hints of sage and vanilla and plum. The palate is dry, lush and medium-full bodied with a sweet core of raspberry. My note: Lip-smacking, juicy delicious with aromas of purple plum and berries. Full-bodied and smooth. Perfect for any casual get-together and for parties where you don’t want to blow your budget but you do want your guests to think you spent a lot more than this.
