Sampietrana Tacco Barocco Primitivo 2008, I.G.T., Salento, Puglia, Italy: Vintages Wine Panel: Winner of a Silver Medal at the 2010 Concours Mondial de Bruxelles. The label doesn’t state this, but our research confirms that this wine is indeed an IGT Salento. Loads of plum, blackberry and pomegranate aromas and flavours dominate. Dry, robust, yet well balanced by fine tannins and a good seam of acidity. Can mature 2-4 years, but is an excellent choice for tonight’s barbecue. My note: Simple, full-bodied and tasty with dark fruit and smoke. Great for barbecue. Drink: 2011-2014. 214692 13.50% D 750 mL $14.95 Score: 87/100. July 23, 2011 Full Review
