Natalie's Review

Pio Cesare Barbera D'alba 2008, D.O.C., Piedmont, Italy: Vintages Wine Panel: Pio Cesare takes as much care in the production of their Barbera wines as they do with their Barolos. In fact, the winery feels that their Barbera is unique because the grapes are grown right beside the Nebbiolo used to make their Barolo. This is not usual, since each variety tends to prefer different terroir conditions. Enjoy this quality wine. My note: Consistently great producer of seductive, subtle wines that pack power. This lovely red has aromas of dark red fruit but especially violets and truffles and earth. Glory in a glass! Drink: 2011-2016. 938886 14% XD 750 mL  $22.95 Score: 91/100. April 30, 2011  Full Review
