Dan Trcka rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

The 2007 Ruffino Il Ducale is a medium bodied wine, with notes of integrated raspberry, cedar/thyme, coconut and vanilla. Tannins are refined (decant for 1 to 2 hours) and the finish is medium to long and smooth. Good to drink now and for the next 5 years. My impression: NICE, 88.5 pts - a bit costly in my view. Tasted Apr/11.

Ruffino Il Ducale Sangiovese Merlot Syrah 2007, Tuscany, Italy: Thrillingly delicious! Aromas of black cherry, sun-dried tomato, black olive, smoke and earth. Smooth, full-bodied and mouth-wateringly tasty. A long, satisfying finish that will make you believe you're basking under the Tuscan sun. Pair with: lasanga, meat lovers pizza, sausages, pasta with tomato sauce.  27797  13%  D  750 mL  $19.95  Score: 90/100. April 22, 2011  Full Review
