Peter Lehmann Wines Layers Shiraz Mourvèdre Grenache Tempranillo Carignan 2008, Barossa Valley, South Australia, Australia: Vintages Wine Panel: Here’s the debut vintage of Peter Lehmann’s exciting new brand called Layers. The name is suggestive of the ‘layers of flavour’ found in these wines. This red blend is comprised of 46% Shiraz, 20% Mourvèdre, 15% Grenache, 17% Tempranillo and 2% Carignan. Each variety is fermented and matured separately for seven months in a mix of seasoned French and American barrels. Filled with blackberry, cherry, plum, cedar and underbrush aromas, it’s made to be enjoyed young. My note: deep, round and delicious. Loaded with black plum, blackberry and mocha notes.
