The 2011 Wente Cabernet Sauvignon Southern Hills, aged in American, French and Eastern European Oaks for 14 months, has intense aromas of blackberry, black cherry, black currant and vanilla on the nose and figs, oak and vanilla on the palate. It is a medium to full bodied, extra-dry, fruity to integrated wine, with checked acidity, refined tannins and a long and smooth finish. It is food friendly or enjoy it as a sipper; drink now to 2020+. My impression: NICE to BEAUTIFUL, 89-90 pts – recommended buy based on quality to price ratio. Tasted at Churchill Cellars Portfolio tasting May/13.

Wente Vineyards Southern Hills Cabernet Sauvignon 2009, Livermore Valley, California, United States: Lovely balance in this vibrant, fully-alive, juicy red. It's full-bodied but not heavy: nicely balanced. Aromas of fleshy blackberry and black cherry aromas, with a pleasing, mouth-watering finish that makes you want more. 301507 13.50% D 750 mL $16.95 Score: 90/100. October 29, 2011 Full Review
