Casa Montes Alzamora Syrah 2006, Tulum Valley, San Juan, Argentina: Vintages Wine Panel: San Juan is home to some simply outstanding Syrah, and the Alzamora is no exception. Expect a full-bodied, dry, superbly structured wine with impressively concentrated blackberry, dark cherries, smoked meat, clove and peppery spice notes with a delicate and lifting touch of violet. Will also evolve nicely with 2-3 years in cellar. My note: Pleasantly bitter with rich blackberry fruit. Smooth and dark. Dark spices on the finish.
