reviewed this wine as follows:
A bright, floral perfumed aroma intertwined with citrus and lime is accentuated by attractive mandarin and white flower nuances. The palate is light and crisp showing distinct fresh lime and grapefruit flavours with excellent fruit sweetness. The wine displays lovely concentration exhibiting a subtle mineral tone, well balanced acidity, and a smooth refreshing finish.

I have just recently discovered how New Zealand rocks when it comes to Riesling, and the Villa Maria is one of the reasons why. Fruity and floral with mineral notes, this medium bodied wine would go with so many foods. Try it with spaghetti with clams and lemon or even lobster.
Villa Maria Private Bin Riesling 2009, Marlborough, South Island, New Zealand, New Zealand: Vintages Wine Panel: Founded in the 1960s and still helmed by recently knighted owner, Sir George Fistonich, family-owned Villa Maria remains one of New Zealand’s leading wineries. This brilliant, straw-coloured Riesling is loaded with citrus and mineral notes. Attractive and elegant on the palate with a zesty acidity, and sporting lime, green apple and mineral flavours leading to a long and crisp finish. My note: Lime-juicy with a lemon-infused finish. In between there’s lots of mouth-watering flavour. Medium-bodied and very versatile with food. Drink: 2011-2015. 62240 12% D 750 mL $15.95 Score: 89/100. March 5, 2011 Best Value White Wine.
