Domaine Des Quatre Routes Sèvre & Maine Sur Lie Muscadet 2007, A.C., Loire, France: Vintages Wine Panel: This wine earned a Gold Medal at the Concours des Grands Vins de France 2008. Muscadet is made with the Melon de Bourgogne grape variety and is known for its gentle flavors and crisp acidity. Long ago, winemakers discovered that they could intensify the flavors by ageing these wines ‘on the lees’ (a.k.a. ‘sur lie’). Muscadet is a coastal region so, unsurprisingly, the wines pair remarkably well with seafood dishes. My note: A zesty, acidic white with pure mouth-watering grapefruit and lime notes. No oak.
