Quinta De Ventozelo Touriga Nacional 2005, D.O.C., Douro, Portugal: Vintages Wine Panel: Here’s a great chance to try an example of stand-alone varietal Touriga Nacional – and what an example it is! A deep purple/ruby color, the wine entices with ripe plum and raspberry aromas. These carry forward on the smooth-textured palate, where they’re joined by subtle vanilla, and lovely coffee notes on the finish. Sporting outstanding structure and balance, this impressive wine’s smoothness is offset by enough tannic grip. My note: Brooding but beautiful! Full-bodied bruiser that has a tender side. Blackberries and kirsch. Pour it on. 657452 14% XD 750 mL $18.95 Score: 89/100. September 12, 2009 Full Review
