Clos De Sarpe Merlot Cabernet Franc 2005, A.C., St-Émilion, Bordeaux, France: A wine of great distinction, good bones and great breeding. This estate keeps yields at harvest under 25 hectoliters per hectare. As a result production is small: for this wine, only a 1,000 cases were produced. It’s a blend of 85% Merlot and 15% old vine Cabernet Franc. The 2005 was a spectacular one for Bordeaux and it shows in this wine. Aromas of black cherries, plums, anise, bacon fat, dried herbs and cigar box. Drink: 2015-2025. 501866 14% XD 750 mL $155.00 Score: 97/100. September 12, 2009 Favorite Red Wine. Full Review
