Montecillo Reserva Tempranillo 2003, D.O.C. Rioja, Spain: Founded in 1874, this winery ages its wines in oak for a minimum of three years with at least 18 months in French oak barrels. Full-bodied, chunky and hulking with black raspberries, smoke. It's tannic so decant for 1-2 hours. A little pricey but you get those alluring mature notes of leather and cigar box that are so suited to lazy evenings dozing by the fire. 621003 14% 750 mL $19.00 Score: 87/100.
