Mac rated this wine as 95/100 with the following review:

My first taste of the new-generation Malbecs coming out of Argentina - My God, I had no idea a Malbec could be this rich, this flavorful, this round! This is a Cabernet in disguise.

With all due respect, this is not a food wine -- what goes best with a wine like this is -- another glass of a wine like this. Food would be overwhelmed, and who wants to eat while your wine is dancing on your tongue?

Bodega Catena Zapata Catena Alta Cabernet Sauvignon 2005, Mendoza, Argentina: Catena Zapata is one of the best-known Argentina wineries for producing top quality wines. A magnificently rich, concentrated and plush wine without a trace of heaviness. Redolent of fleshy blackberries, cherries, fig and cassis. Excellent structure and balance with an incredibly long, coffee-tinged finish. 959965 14% XD 750 mL  $56.00 Score: 94/100. February 28, 2009 Favorite Red Wine.  Full Review
