Kilikanoon Blocks Road Cabernet Sauvignon 2006, Clare Valley, South Australia, Australia: Vintages Wine Panel: Killikanoon’s founder and winemaker Kevin Mitchell pulls out all the stops for this refined Cab. The intense fruit is sourced from low-yielding, dry-grown vines in the Clare Valley. Aged for two years in French oak barriques and bottled unfiltered, the wine displays classic aromas of blackcurrant, earth and graphite as well as mint notes. The elegant structure, fruitiness and dusty tannins bridge modern and classic Cab styles. My note: A smooth, supple, modern wine with notes of blackberry, licorice, dried herbs, violets and cedar.
