Mulderbosch Faithful Hound Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot Petit Verdot Malbec Cabernet Franc 2004, W.O. Stellenbosch, South Africa: This wine is a true Bordeaux-style blend, as it uses all five of that famous region’s grapes: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec and Cabernet Franc. My note: This wine was aged for 18 months in French oak, 50% of which was new oak. A silky, seductive brooder with notes of blackberry, plum, mushroom, black raspberry, pencil lead and mesquite smoke. Terrific acidity. 922443 14% D 750 mL $20.95 Score: 90/100.
