Sean O'Regan Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

July 4, 2004: Deep garnet with an intense nose of dried fig, raspberry, prune, baking spice, chocolate, smoke, leather and dill. Full on the palate with great fruit extraction and depth repeating cherry, chocolate, plum and dried fig. Very nice balance with the fruit, fine chalky tannins and acidity which keep the 15% abv inline. Long finish turns to a pleasant grape skin bitter. Velvet sledgehammer of a wine that would surely please fans of Amarone. Pairing - braised beef, sausages or a couple of advil if you're not careful.
Andrew Bernardo Wine Journal rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Exceptional depth and concentration, this wine features port-like cassis, raspberry liqueur, sous-bois, and warm spice. A sappy wine, dripping with character. 92 Points. (ottawawinejournal.com)
