An elegant and complex cool-climate Aussie Shiraz. Crafted with fruit sourced from the high altitude Ashwood Estate vineyards in the Adelaide Hills. Bursting with aromas and flavours of ripe dark plums, berries and black cherries. Plush and smooth with superfine, velvety tannins. Beautifully integrated oak, great structure and refinement. Closes in a lingering vanilla-tinged finish. A given as a fantastic pairing with grilled meats, slow roasts and mature cheeses. Fantastic value! Tasted June 2017. Tania Thomas – www.runawaygrape.com.
Stephen Andrews reviewed this wine as follows:

Tasted June 13th 2017. Colour pink on the rim and dark red to the core. Good legs coating the glass. On the nose blackberry, licorice, black plum, blueberry, notes of chocolate mocha and spice. On the palate black fruit in a medium bodied mouth feel with soft tannins, nice acid and complex. Finishes with black fruit and tar with noticeable acid on the upper lip. This is a wine that should please people who enjoy Shariz. It is actually a pleasure to drink soft and fruity. Leaves you wanting more. I believe this to be a good match with BBQ meats. I drank it while enjoying a BBQ piece of centre cut pork loin, and bacon Maple sauce. This wine has been a hit with my friends. Since it is a vintage wine I purchased a case because I believe it will sell out.
Great value for the price.

Measured berry fruit with ample oak. A bit of richness texturally due to softer acids.
Monique Sosa rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Fragrant with interesting eucalyptus, sandalwood, flint and berry aromas. Flavours showcase jammy black plum, cassis, vanilla bean. leather and spice notes. This medium+ bodied cool climate Shiraz is smooth and tasteful with lingering notes of blackberry, mint and chalky minerality. Enjoy with mesquite bbq ribs.
