Julia Kelada rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Not only am I working my way around the world tasting wines from country to country, I am also working my way around region to region. When it comes to French wines the vast array is almost a little overwhelming to me, but don't worry......I'll plough on!!!!

Bordeaux wines, in my head, we're always on the lighter side, not full impact, easy drinking, nothing complex......oh how ignorant I have been. Yesterday I was treated to a nice little tasting at my local SAQ, all of the wines were absolutely incredible, delicious wines of complex yet well rounded personality. Of course you guessed it, all from Bordeaux. "I knew I'd get you to fall in love with Bordeaux" my wonderful SAQ sommelier grinned at me. My shoppingy cart got loaded!

This wine I'm about to review was one of the Bordeaux I bought that is a fantastic wine to be able to take to a dinner party, or enjoy on that lazy Saturday cuddled up at home with a delicious read meat meal or strong cheese platter.

In the glass the wine is a deep purple casis colour, and clings slightly to the glass.

On the nose there are cherries, black currants, vanilla and a slight menthol tone.

On the palate there are rich lucious dark cherries, black currants and mixed black berries. A damp wood tone makes way for a note of toasted sesame seeds. Licorice steps forward and then a curious menthol undertone balances out the licorice before a mellowing vanilla note envelopes your taste buds. The end is a dry chalky, mineral energy with good length tannins.

A full bodied, full complex, dry red wine.
Bottoms up!

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
