Daniel Lenko Chardonngay is a refreshing white that is often only available at the winery in Niagara (where you can taste wines in Lenko’s kitchen). The grape is Chardonnay, but the name, and the rainbow label, mean that $1 from every bottle sold is donated to AIDS research.

This is a refreshing light-bodied dinner wine to be drunk within the next year. It is best served around 10-12C so the fruit comes out. It is brilliantly clear in the glass with the colour of pale straw. The nose hints of peaches. On the palate there is fruit, peaches, with hints of lemon and spice. The finish is extended, bringing out the lemon and spice. This is a deliberately unoaked Chardonnay that allows the fruit flavours to take front stage.

Chardonngay goes well with Chicken with Forty Cloves of Garlic and Antipasto of Peppers and Tomatoes. The light acidity refreshes the palate after soft roasted garlic on toast, or the olive oil of the Antipasto.

At $19.95 a bottle we’re going to put 4 bottles in our cellar for drinking over the next year.

The palate is crisp, creamy and the finish is long.

Pair it with Fettucinis Alfredo.

Serve it at 10-12 degrees.

Pale lemon yellow with notes of citrus, apple, pear and a hint of honey. On the palate has a soft, luscious feel – citrus and apple come through as well as the honey. Medium bodied with a long finish. Quite refreshing.

Chardonngay, with its pride flag label, displays an enticing tropical and ripe orchard fruit nose with a hint of honey. Well balanced acidity on the palate, medium body, dry. Medium to long finish. A very pleasant unoaked chard.

August 17, 2014: Pale gold, melon, apple, honeyed nose. Medium light body, apple, citrus, white peach on the palate with a medium finish. Nice acidity showing from a hotter Ontario vintage, this is nice on its own or with roast chicken or shellfish.

Daniel Lenko's Chardonngay Unoaked Chardonnay was pleasant surprise at a blind tasting today.
Creamy and elegant texture. Apple, pear,honey, sweet spice, yogurt, butter, chamomile.
Medium bodied with medium acidity. Simply a lovely sipper or pair with favorite seafood, chicken, cheeses. Food friendly.
$1 of every purchase goes to AIDS research in Canada.
