Le Volte dell’Ornellaia is produced by the Ornellaia Estate, home of the famous Super Tuscan. The wine is composed of Merlot (50%), Sangiovese (30%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (20%). It contains 14% alcohol and is aged for 10 months in oak barrels previously used for aging their flagship Ornellaia wine.
The 2011 Le Volte dell’Ornellaia is a full-bodied wine with aromas of black cherries, prunes and a hint of nutmeg. This well-structured wine needs to be decanted for at least 45 minutes in order to soften its tannins. On the palate, red fruit and a crisp acidity precede a long finish. This wine can be cellared for a few years.
Pairing suggestion: steak or roast beef (medium rare).
