This Shiraz beat out some wonderful Shiraz/Syrah from around the globe. Sandbanks has blossomed out of Prince Edward County under what some might say is a difficult terroir. Especially for Shiraz.
This Shiraz is medium++ body. Beautiful ruby red. Lots of ripe dark fruit. Black Currant, plum, cherry cordial, Christmas cake, black pepper, clove.
The palate has the black pepper finish that I like to taste in Shiraz. Perfect accompaniment to grilled meat. Smooth tannins. Drinking nicely now. Can't wait to see what 2012 vintage brings. This one was great!
