The 2005 Château Plaisance Cuvée Alix, composed of 70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc, has intense aromas of anise, wood, dried pomegranate and cherry. It is a medium bodied, extra-dry, aged wine; with forward acidity, dusty/drying tannins (decant for 1-2 hours) and a medium to long finish. It is a food friendly and sipping wine; as the fruit is drying out, drink now – 2016. My impression: NICE to BEAUTIFUL, 89 pts – surprisingly tastes like Ontario’s Cabernet Franc dominated wines – recommended for its quality. Tasted Jan/14.

Château Plaisance Cuvée Alix Premières Bernard Magrez Meritage 2005, A.C., Côtes De Bordeaux, France: What a glorious surprise, especially for this price point for Bordeaux! Classic signature: black fruit, toasty oak, smoke, more dusty than fruity. Concentrated, deep and layered. Yes please! Decant 1-2 hours. Drink: 2013-2018. 348789 13.50% XD 750 mL $24.95 Score: 91/100. November 9, 2013 Best Beef Wine Full Review
