Nov 21, 2013: Blind tasting NCSG Vintages pre-release. Deep ruby, purple tinged. Palate shows blackberry, cassis, dark chocolate, green herb, oak spice, leather, black cherry nose. Medium full body with currant, blackberry, graphite and spice. Good balance of fruit, acidity and slightly green tannins, this may improve with a few years cellaring and drink well for five more after.
Chapel Hill Cabernet Sauvignon 2011, Mclaren Vale, South Australia, Australia: Classic nose of blackcurrant, cassis and sage brush. Full-bodied and very solidly structured. Packed with dark fruit personality and flavour. Decant 2 hours for maximum pleasure. Great for steak. Drink: 2013-2017. 965830 14.50% D 750 mL $24.95 Score: 91/100.
