Offering a bouquet of dried cranberry, violet and seasoned wood, followed by a palate of fresh and dried cherry, sage and sandlewood. Medium bodied with just a touch of oak. Perfect with carpaccio.
Valpantena Ripasso Valpolicella 2011, D.O.C., Veneto, Italy: Savoury and delicious; tastes like twice the price. Blackberry, cedar, wild black raspberry aromas on the nose. Some kind of wonderful! There's some lovely dried herbs, mocha-dark chocolate and smoke on the finish. Try it with Italian cheeses and try not to smile. Drink: 2012-2015. 642421 13% D 750 mL $16.95 Score: 90/100.
