Andrew Bernardo Wine Journal rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

One of the few upsides to having strict AOCs in France is that you get wines like Madiran...made mostly from Tannat, a thick skinned varietal that is temperamental and can often be harsh and tannic. Otherwise, I fear that these vines would have been torn up in the region in favour of Cab and Merlot. While these wines will always have a strong tannin presence, they can be felled, or at least balanced by ripe fruit flavours. Peyros, along with Lionel Osmin, regularly produce such wines. The 2005 Greenwich 43N is a perfect example of what this grape can achieve under the right growing conditions. Aromas and flavours of black cherries, cherry pit, grape must huckleberry, old wood, cinnamon stick, and a hint of clove. Pair with duck and tender cuts of steak such as tenderloin and rib eye. Drink now through 2020. 90 Points. (
